Our Baby Shower Blast!

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!

Jayden is most definitely one loved baby! The baby shower we received last weekend very well justifies it! The baby shower was simply amazing! We had a really great turnout. Many people from both Mommy’s family and Daddy’s family showed up, along with many of Mommy’s friends and Daddy’s friends. The food we had was absolutely delicious! It was like a buffet, and everyone made sure they treated it like one! We played many games that some of you who have been to baby showers before may be familiar with: Guess The Size Of Mommy’s Belly, Don’t Cross Your Legs, Don’t Forget About Daddy, Word Scramble, Guess Mommy’s Weight, and How Many Words Can You Come Up With? (not exactly sure if those are the “official” names of the games, but you should be able to pretty much get an idea of what games are being referred to!). And the gifts, let’s just put it this way, because of the baby shower, Jayden is covered until he’s about 20! Ok, that was an exaggeration, but we received lots and LOTS of gifts for Jayden; everything from clothes to cribs, toys to breast feeding kits, and everything in between! We’re pretty sure that Jayden now has more stuff than we have COMBINED! There were cameras flashing everywhere throughout the duration of the shower! It was as if we were surrounded by paparazzi!

So of course, there is no way we are even going to continue on without getting into the pictures! Let us warn you though, there are LOTS of pictures. So you may want to go grab a cup of coffee, take a bathroom break, and call off work for the next few days, because you may be here for a while!

The People!

As stated before, many people from both families and both sets of friends were there; and every single one of them wanted to get in a picture with Mommy and Daddy!

The Food!

Chicken, fish, ham, greens, dressing, lasagna, sweet potatoes, cake, need we say more? Needless to say, everyone grubbed down!

The Games!

What’s a baby shower without games? We played quite a few games including Guess The Size Of Mommy’s Belly, a word scramble, and of course, Don’t Forget About Daddy! Daddy actually suggested bringing in some Xbox 360’s and having everyone play Halo 3, but his idea was promptly turned down by Mommy ;-)

The Gifts!

Gifts galore! It took us HOURS just to get through all of the gifts and to thank everybody! Jayden is going to be one stylin’ little dude!

And that’s only a fraction of the total amount of pictures we were able to take! If you’d like to see the full set of pictures we took at the baby shower, click here!

Well, that about wraps up our baby shower! We definitely had lots of fun and enjoyed ourselves. And we also appreciated the love we received from our family and friends! Our baby shower couldn’t have been any better!

33rd Week Update

As of yesterday, I’m officially 33 weeks pregnant! It seems like the weeks are just flying by! Before I know it, we’ll be on our way to the hospital! Speaking of which, today we went up to the hospital to fill out the additional paperwork. We also learned that there can be more than one labor coach in the room. My mother can come in now and if Daddy’s mother makes it down here (we live 5 hours away from our parents), she can too. I’m not sure if I want all of that company while my girly bits are all exposed though :-/. So now everything’s prepared! I haven’t packed my bags but I did write a list of things that I will be bringing with. I may post my list at a later date. Along with that, quite a few other things have been going on over the past week. Hmmm let’s see…

My birth mark has gone global!

As many of you may know (from looking at my belly pictures), my birthmark is smack dab in the middle of my belly. So of course, now that I’m pregnant, it has stretched to a ginormous size! I don’t even wanna think about how it’s going to look post delivery…

My Ginormous Birthmark

Must. Have. Liquids!

I have been guzzling down milk, water, and juice like crazy! Every time I went over Daddy’s mother’s house over the past baby shower weekend, I drank up all of the milk O:-).

Spriiiiiing cleaning!

Today marked the first day of spring, and Daddy and I have officially started our spring cleaning around the house. We’re cleaning the house from top to bottom and getting rid of stuff that we don’t need to make living, as well as moving, easier this summer. Our rugrats (cat and dog) now reside with my mother. Wherever we move we most likely won’t be able to afford to have them there, plus we’d like a few less creatures to have to clean up after since Jayden will need our undivided attention.

Baby Shower Sneak Peek!

Now I know that we’ve been kind of holding out on the details of the baby shower. It was definitely a success! There were games, LOTS of eats, and we received loads of gifts for Jayden! We’re just now getting all of the pictures uploaded to our computer. We’ll be writing a whole separate post about the baby shower in more detail over the weekend. But until then, here’s a sneak peek!

And last but not least!

Today marks the first day of Spring and it was warm outside! Daddy and I took a trip to the park so that I could get some outdoor maternity pictures!

The Pinks and Blues Girls are having a fun meme called the Blogger Baby Bump Watch 2008. If you’re currently preggie, head on over there to join in on the fun and for a chance to win a bubble gum pink Duo Double Deluxe Edition diaper bag from Skip Hop! I already have the bubble gum pink Saddlebag, so winning the diaper bag would be a treat! Wish me luck! Ok, let me stop being selfish, lol. Good luck to all who enter!

(We have been keeping weekly accounts of our pregnancy since the 22nd week. If you’re interested in reading weekly updates prior to or following this one, click here!)

Feeling The Love Across The Blogosphere!

It always feels good when you find out that there is someone out there who loves your blog! It makes you feel that what you write is interesting and of worth and value to someone. I feel that those people not only deserve to be acknowledged, but shown that you appreciate them! This is why I would like to show love to those who have recently shown love to us!

AidynElyMamaWe met Tawny through the Ultimate Blog Party 2008 that was held last week and she listed us as one of her favorite blogs that she discovered via the party. Tawny is a mama blogger with a very unique looking blog and two kids with the coolest names ever: Aidyn and Ellery! I told her that I absolutely love those names! I don’t know what it is about the names. Maybe it’s because I’ve never heard of them before and they are uncommon to me, which makes them unique! Perhaps it could be because “Aidyn” is so close to “Jayden” in terms of pronunciation. I don’t why I love the names so much. But I do know one thing, one day some years from now, her kids are going to look up to her and say, “You are such a cool mom for giving us our names!” :-)

Subject LoveMarian and Fabio are a blogging duo (just like Mommy and I) who blogs on the subject of love; hence the name of their blog, Subject: Love! Marian loved the 31st Week Update post that I wrote a couple weeks ago so much that she featured it in a post on Subject: Love. I’m glad to see that my shot at a weekly update wasn’t bad after all, and I hope everyone else enjoyed it!

Building CamelotTyler is a husband and dad blogger who has just recently put together a 101 site resource for husbands and fathers, and has included Mommy Daddy Blog in it. When Mommy and I first started this blog, I didn’t think any “dad blogs” existed. I knew that there were a gajillion “mom blogs” out there, but didn’t think there were any dad blogs around. Then I did some digging, and what I found was a wealth of dad blogs, many of which that have now become my daily reads! But after I came across Tyler’s list, I realized that I’ve only discovered a fraction of the dad bloggers out there! Tyler’s list includes many dad blogs (and dad communities) that I’ve never even heard of. It’s definitely a great resource if you’re looking for fathers who share a common interest: loving and enjoying parenthood!

AlltopEver heard of Truemors.com? No? Well how about Guy Kawasaki? No again? Well have you heard of the internet? Ohhhh ok, well that explains it! :-) Well then let me fill you in on who this “guy” is (pun intended!). Guy Kawasaki, one of the guys behind Truemors, has recently put together a new creation, Alltop. Alltop is a “single-page aggregator” of many different websites/blogs across many different categories. To break it down into layman’s terms, Alltop collects “all the top” websites across the internet, sorts them into different categories, and conveniently displays the last five stories from each website all on a single page (with each category, and its contents, having its own separate page). For example, in Alltop’s Dads category, you will find several “dad websites”. Beneath each website’s name you will find the five most recent stories listed. Everyone’s there, from Busy Dad to Joeprah! And wait! Could it be? Mommy Daddy Blog is there too! :-) Guy, if you’re reading this, thanks for including Mommy Daddy Blog! I definitely see Alltop doing big(ger) things in the future!

If you have recently shown us some love and I didn’t include you, I apologize! Send me an e-mail or let me know in the comments and I’ll include you! Mommy and I are just recovering from a VERY busy weekend and we’re trying to catch up on things! To everyone who has shown us love, thank you!

Get Your Boogie Oogie Woogie On With Baby Jamz!

Personally I’m not a fan of the Kid’s Bop commercials that are played on TV, I find them annoying. But when I found out about Baby Jamz, I was all kinds of giddy! Baby Jamz, founded by Matthew and Solange Knowles, is the first EVER Hip Hop/Rhythm inspired toy line for babies and preschool children. It’s nice to have something different from traditional toys!

Baby Jamz CD - Nursery Rhymes Volume 1Baby Jamz CD - Nursery Rhymes Volume 1
In Nursery Rhymes Volume 1, Solange Knowles and friends add a Hip Hop and R&B twist to nursery rhyme favorites. We will definitely be bumping this CD in the future minivan, lol! I was teasing Daddy about playing the CD in the car. People will be thinking that we’re listening to the latest Hip Hop and R&B, until Daddy gets out of the car to pump gas and everyone hears *Twiiiiinkle twiiiiinkle liiittle staaaaaaaaar*! I played the CD for my cousin’s son (2 years) and daughter (16 months) and they danced and even sang along to the songs!

babyjamzkeyz.jpgBaby Jamz Jingle n’ Jam Key Chain
These little keys play clips from the Baby Jamz CD - Nursery Rhymes Volume 1 and the sound of a revving engine. The volume level is really low though, so the the Baby Jamz clips and revving engine sound can just barely be heard. I just think that they could be a tad bit louder. I can’t believe I just said that. You’d think a parent would want toys to be as silent as possible! I’m pretty sure the low volume issue will be addressed in later versions of Baby Jamz Jingle n’ Jam Key Chain. Sound or not, kids love colorful keys!

Baby Jamz products are currently only available at Walmart. I’m assuming that in the future they will expand to other stores. After all, it could help get these awesome toys in the hands of more babies and tots who love to jam!
