NovaSure, An Alternative to Hysterectomy

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!

Dare To Wear WhiteThe subject of heavy periods should not be thought of as taboo. According to the National Women’s Health Resource Center, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 3 Baby Boomers experience heavy periods-tallying up to about 10 million women in the U.S. alone!

You may have heavy periods if:
· your period lasts a long time
· you need to change pads or tampons every 1 to 2 hours
· you often have a tampon AND a pad for more protection
· you have to change pads at night

Besides being an inconvenient mess all together, heavy periods have negatively affected women in many ways. Mom Central surveyed over 1,300 “everyday moms” who indicated that they have heavy periods.

Of those surveyed,:
· 75% of women reported that their heavy periods negatively impact their quality of
life by disrupting their family and social life, regular activities, and moods.
· almost 60% said that their periods negatively affect their sexual relationships.
· and what’s worse, more than 50% of women with heavy periods said that they dread
leaving the house on their worst days.

Commonly women turn to having a Hysterectomy done to fix these problems. However, the side effects of hormones and the risks of Hysterectomy leave some women feeling uneasy about the procedure.

There is an alternative procedure to having a Hysterectomy and I would like to share the procedure called NovaSure with those who are interested. The NovaSure procedure controls heavy bleeding by using energy to remove the lining of the uterus. There are no pretreatment drugs required so the procedure can be done in the hospital or doctor’s office in just 4 1/2 minutes on average. Most women who have had the NovaSure procedure done have returned to work and regular activities the following day.

According to NovaSure, many women who have had the procedure done reported a reduction in PMS and painful periods, as well as other benefits such as less anxiety, greater self-confidence, and a boost in energy.

NovaSure’s clinical trial post treatment survey results reveal:

· 45% reduction in women reporting PMS
· 64% reduction in women reporting pain
· 68% reduction in women reporting anxiety
· 71% reduction in women reporting a lack of self-confidence
· nearly 4 fold reduction in women reporting a lack of energy

To learn more about NovaSure, visit novasure.com and daretowearwhite.com.

If you are a woman who suffers from heavy periods and have decided not to have any more children, please help NovaSure out by taking this survey. The first 250 women to complete this survey will receive a $10 Amazon gift certificate as a thanks.

36th Week Update + Dr. Visit

April 10th marked 36 weeks for me. Sorry I’m late but I’ve just been overwhelmed with things. Thanks, Daddy, for picking the Crocheted Sunflower Infant Hat Giveaway Winner while I was fast asleep!

We had another dr’s appointment Tuesday, the 8th. The midwife checked my cervix and Jayden’s head has dropped low. I’m going to say that he dropped between week 34-35 because that’s when I started to feel the additional pressure. It’s definitely much harder to walk now, I waddle more, and there’s more pressure on my back, legs, and feet. I’m running to the bathroom more than ever too. I can’t even sleep through the night! I go potty at least 6 times each night! Oh and about that heartburn that’s supposed to go away…it didn’t.

I have found that I am addicted to lime flavored and scented products. They are Edy’s Lime Fruit Bars, Blessed Nest Sour Lime/Ginger Lip Balm, and Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena body cream and splash. I didn’t even realize my addiction until I clung to the Coconut Lime Verbena. If you have something lime, send it my way!

Oh this reminded me of something funny my nutritionist asked me Monday:

Nutritionist: Have you had any non-food cravings?
Me: Huh?
Nutritionist: Have you been craving to eat items that aren’t food? We had one lady come in here that ate dryer lint.
Me: *laughs out loud* UH NO, I haven’t wanted to eat anything but food. *laughs out loud*
Nutritionist: Hey it’s possible, pregnant women have strange cravings.
Me: *snickers*

After reading B.Y.O.Gown - The Girlie Variety at The Opinionated Parent, I am disgusted at the thought of using an hospital gown, lol. I wish I didn’t read the post BUT if you continue to read you’ll find that they are giving away a Girlie Gown! How innovative and stylish! My favorite pattern is the black and white Modern Mummy. It’s wise to choose the darkest since there’s going to be mess involved, lol. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll be the winner of the giveaway!

The weather is just starting to get warmer and I bought a new lens, tripod, and other things for my camera, so I’ll be sure to update with more pictures. Expect more product reviews and giveaways as well. Until next time!

What’s New at Lysol?

Lysol Wipes Lysol To GoI remember reading on a mother’s blog about how she had taken her child to the doctor for a checkup. Since her child was not sick, she sat on the side designated for well patients in the waiting room. Shortly after, two women brought in a sick child and sat on the side designated for well patients. The sick child, who didn’t even belong in the well patient area, threw up all over the area and the women accompanying the sick child didn’t even attempt to clean up the mess. (If you were the mom who blogged about this, let me know!) Makes you think twice about sitting in the doctor’s office, doesn’t it?

I know that a lot of moms pack Lysol Disinfecting Wipes in their purses and diaper bags for this very reason. Lysol has made their Disinfecting Wipes even better. They are now made with Micro-Lock fibers, making them 50% stronger than leading disinfecting wipes. They can even tackle baked on grease. This is perfect for those who use them for quick cleaning jobs in the kitchen like I do.

In addition to Lysol improving their disinfecting wipes, they have come out with a new product, Lysol To Go Disinfectant Spray. Being the germaphobe that I am, I keep a tube in my purse along with hand sanitizer and everything but a raft. Lysol To Go is perfect for those on the go. Lysol To Go can be used on changing tables, play areas, exercise equipment, public telephones, public computers, toilet areas, faucets, sink areas, door knobs, light switches, and table tops. Of course the list can go on! Keep a tube in a purse, diaper bag, gym bag, or even coat pocket! For those wondering about the smell, Lysol to Go comes in a one of my favorite scents, Crisp Linen. It smells really good and isn’t overpowering!

Crocheted Sunflower Infant Hat Giveaway Winner!

Today marks the end of yet another fun giveaway here on Mommy Daddy Blog! Our Crocheted Sunflower Infant Hat Giveaway actually ended yesterday, but Mommy’s body has really been taking a toll on her as we get closer and closer to Jayden’s expected due date (less than a month left!). So since Mommy’s resting away, I’ll be the one to pick the winner of the giveaway! So here we go! And the winning number is…

Congratulations SJ! We will be getting in touch with you shorty! Thanks SJ, and to everyone else who took the time to enter our giveaway! As stated before, stay tuned because we have many more giveaways planned that you don’t want to miss out on! Be sure to stay updated by subscribing to our feed, because you never know what we might give away next!

As for other news, look forward to Mommy’s 36th week update; that is, if she’s up to it. These last weeks of our pregnancy are becoming a little uneasy for Mommy physically. So you guys may actually see another Daddy Style weekly update or two! We’ll just have to wait and see how Mommy feels!

Also, we’re on Twitter! We’ve actually been on Twitter for a while, but I’m just now starting to play around with it. It seems like a nice way to meet new people and stay updated with friends. I’m not a “hardcore Twitterer” yet (it’s amazing how some people tweet every single minute!), but Mommy and I will try our best to update from time to time. So if you’re a Twitter/Tweeter/Twit (or whatever “Twitter people” are called!), follow us on Twitter!
