April 2008: A Month In Review

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!

Rain FlowerThese past couple of weeks have definitely been busy for us here in the Mommy Daddy Household, which is why I’m 9 days late with this and also why there’s been very few posts as of recent. But ever since Jayden has been born, I just can’t pull myself away from him! Even when he’s sleeping, I can’t help but to lie there with him and watch him sleep. He’s my everything. If any of you recall, yesterday (May 8th) was his expected due date. But he ended up arriving 12 days early, and he’ll officially be two weeks old tomorrow. I’ve been told numerous times to enjoy every single second with him, because he’ll grow up fast, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

So I just thought I’d drop in to give a little update on how things are going, and also put out our April 2008 round-up. We’ve been taking a lot of pictures and getting a lot of videos, and we’ll be definitely posting them all in the coming weeks. Mommy Daddy Blog is going to turn into a “Jayden bonanza”, and we hope you all will stick around for it!

So, what went on last month?

Last month was definitely full of anticipation, topped off by the arrival of our son, Jayden! And there were also a few giveaways here and there! So, let’s recap! Here are our 10 most popular posts of April 2008:

  • Meet Jayden Elijah! - The post celebrating the birth of our baby boy, Jayden Elijah! There is no way I can even measure this post is terms of popularity. This is our “golden post”.
  • This Is It! It’s Time! - This is my post written the day Mommy went into labor. This is the last post I wrote before Jayden was born, and the first post I wrote after Jayden was born. I will cherish this post forever.
  • Never Lose A Password Due To Mommy Brain Again! - Last month, we gave away an Internet Password Organizer and it generated such a great response (almost 100 entries!) thanks to the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival and Prizey!
  • Unique Kid’s Headwear Just In Time For Spring! - Another giveaway amongst many that we held in April. This one was for a Crocheted Sunflower Infant Hat!
  • Mommy Lost Her Mucous Plug!!! - Excitement ensued when Mommy lost her mucous plug, because we knew it meant that Jayden could possibly arrive very soon! And he did, just six days later!
  • Wordless Wednesday: Preggo Meets Prego - For the first time ever in the history of the universe, an encounter has been made between Preggo and Prego! See the actual photo evidence in this post!
  • “I Love You Jayden!” “Goo Goo!” - When Mommy was pregnant with Jayden, I enjoyed having conversations with him every day! Now that he’s here, he can finally see who it was that was talking him to sleep every night! Hey, I’m not that boring!
  • Happy 1st Birthday MommyDaddyBlog.com! - We celebrated the one year anniversary of MommyDaddyBlog.com, the domain, last month, although Mommy Daddy Blog, the blog, has only been around since December 2007. Confused? Check out the post for clarification!
  • 37th Week Update: I’m 1 CM Dilated! - Another exciting post from Mommy that highlighted the signs that the time to meet our son is almost here! In this post, we first learn that Mommy is 1 centimeter dilated!
  • Never Underestimate the Power of Craigslist! - Last month, I came across a dresser for Jayden on Craigslist that I just could not pass up! And we ended up getting a great deal on it too!

Last month, we saw five new referrers make it into our top 10! We continue to appreciate the love you all show us! Thanks again for spreading the word about Mommy Daddy Blog! Here are our top 10 referrers for April 2008:

  • Google - The Big G brings it home once again!
  • StumbleUpon - If you haven’t been on StumbleUpon, you’re definitely missing out! Go ahead and stumble over there right now! (sorry for the horrible pun, but I had to do it)
  • Sophistishe - Mommy’s personal blog just continues to amaze me every month! (sarcasm)
  • Entrecard - Thanks to all the Entrecard’ers who “dropped” by (ha, I’m so good with puns!) last month! And if you have yet to hear of Entrecard, click on the box with the golden “E” on our sidebar to see what you’ve been missing out on!
  • Twitter - Last month, I decided to try out the internet phenomenon that is Twitter! I haven’t been tweeting as much as I’d like, but I definitely plan to. Also, thanks to everyone who have been following us on Twitter!
  • Prizey - Prizey is the go-to blog if you’re running a giveaway and you want to give it maximum exposure. Prizey helped bring our Internet Password Organizer Giveaway almost 100 entries! I like Prizey! I just can’t get enough of saying that!
  • Tanyetta - Watching Tanyetta’s son DJ grow on her blog made me anticipate Jayden’s arrival even more! She does so much with DJ, it’s amazing! She’s definitely a “Super Mommy”!
  • Don’t Try This At Home - “Chilihead” is the woman behind BloggyGiveaways.com, where we participated in the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival she threw last month. She throws a giveaway just about every day over at BG, so if you love giveaways, BloggyGiveaways.com is the place to be!
  • A Wrestling Addicted Mommy’s Blog - A mommy, who loves wrestling? I didn’t know they make those! AWAMB is definitely the place to go for Gina’s experiences as a mommy and the latest news on WWE, all in one place!
  • Babee Makes Five - Following Maryam and Damon through their pregnancy feels like deja vu! It reminds me so much of our fun-filled pregnancy with Jayden!

Thank you for your support!

Last month, we saw tons of comments from new people, and tons from people who have been with us from the beginning. We appreciate each and every one of them, especially those congratulating us when Jayden came into the world. Thank you! We love you guys! Here are our top 10 commenters of April 2008:

And that wraps up the month of April! Next week, we’re going upstate to visit our folks, so the seldom amount of posts may continue for another week. But after that, we hope to get back into the groove of things. We’ve taken many more pictures and I’ve shot some videos of Jayden, so we’re hoping to get them up in the next few days. So look forward to that! We’re also currently running our “Celebration of Mommyhood” Mother’s Day Giveaway, which will be ending in two days on Mother’s Day, so go on over and check that out! We look forward to another awesome month, and again we hope you’ll stick around to enjoy it with us!

I Surrender To Mommyhood!

Juggling Mom

I surrender! The above photo best describes what’s going on right now, only I’m getting a little less laptop than the mommy above. I feel bad for being MIA. I’m working on it. I’m trying my hardest not to be a victim of mommy break downs and the “baby blues”, but I’ve failed already. I know it’s normal, all I need is some time and all will be well. I’m just not digging being all hormonal. Next week we’ll be taking a trip to see family so that should help.

I just wanted to come out from hiding in the cave. I promise I’ll write about labor and our stay at the hospital soon :-)

“Celebration of Mommyhood” Mother’s Day Giveaway!

Winners have been announced here!

Celebration of Mommyhood

In case you missed it, Jayden was born just this past weekend on April 26th, 2008 at 8:18PM. Click here to see the post celebrating the arrival of our beautiful baby boy!

Mommy has been a mommy for six days now, and here is what she has to say about her newfound “mommyhood”:

I’m loving mommyhood! I feel refreshed and confident. I’m experiencing changes in my body that I never knew could happen until now. The simple and maybe disgusting things like Jayden pooting and pooping out what resembles Grey Poupon excites me. Let’s me know that our bodies are getting along. I love ALL of his little sounds. I don’t mind his loud cries, I guess it’s a first time parent thing. He makes the cutest high pitched coo (Daddy mentioned it already!) when I bring him to the boobie bar. He gets so excited and starts snorting. I love it!

So, in light of Mommy’s recent official becoming of a mommy, we’re throwing a Mother’s Day giveaway to celebrate the joys of being a mommy with other mommies, new and seasoned, across the blogosphere! We’d like to call it, “Celebration of Mommyhood”!

The Prizes

We have a total of EIGHT gift packages to be won by EIGHT lucky winners! Take a peek at what there is to be won:

ONE winner will receive a PeaceLoveMom Drawstring Cotton Bag, a Baby Gizmo Buying Guide, a Dream With Me Tonight Volume 2 CD, and a 3-Way Life Pad!

ONE winner will receive a Peppermint Pattie Pedi kit!

ONE winner will receive a momAgenda Desktop (lime), an Adult Classic Seaband (malibu stripe), and a Toddler Classic Seaband (pink doggy paw)!

ONE winner will receive a momAgenda Desktop (lime) and an Onni Red Crown Handbag!

FOUR winners will receive a Steeping Cup with Meditative Mind Tea, and a 3-Way Life Pad!

And we’re also going to throw in a surprise “goodie” in every package! If you’d like a specific gift package, please specify which one you’d like in the comments. Otherwise, a gift package will be chosen at random if you win. We hope that we can make this Mother’s Day a little bit more special for eight mommies out there enjoying mommyhood!

Stay tuned, as more prizes may be added!

How To Enter

There are three ways you can enter this giveaway, and everyone is eligible! You don’t have to own a blog to enter! If you’d like to be included in this giveaway, here’s how:

1. Post a comment explaining what mommyhood means to you. If you’re a daddy, or even if you don’t have any children, explain what mommyhood means to you from your perspective. (Only one comment per person, please!)

2. Blog about this giveaway. We’d love to be able to reach as many mommies as we can so that we can possibly make this Mother’s Day special for them this year. With your help by blogging about this giveaway, we know that the possibilities are endless!

3. Place our giveaway button on your blog. Please let us know in the comments if you’ve placed a button on your blog so that we can count that as an entry in your name. Whether you decide to place a button on your sidebar or include it in a post, both are acceptable ways to be included. Anywhere on your blog is fine! Here is the giveaway button:

Celebration of Mommyhood Mother's Day Giveaway!

You can enter by just one method, two, or even all three methods. It’s up to you! Each method of entry is worth one entry in this giveaway, for a maximum of three possible entries. This giveaway will end at 5:00PM CST on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 11th, 2008, of which comments will be closed at that time. Winners will be chosen and announced here on Mommy Daddy Blog later on that night.

Good luck, and Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who is enjoying the blessing that is mommyhood!

This giveaway wouldn’t have been possible without: momAgenda, Skimbaco, Seabands, Teaspot, Klean, Knock Knock, PeaceLoveMom, and Baby Gizmo Buying Guide!

Getting Settled With Our New Addition (Pictures!)

*Note: In case you missed it, Jayden was born just this past weekend on April 26th, 2008 at 8:18PM. Click here to see the post celebrating the arrival of our beautiful baby boy!*

We’re home now! Well actually, we’ve been home since Monday, but we’ve been busy getting settled and playing catch up since then. It hasn’t helped that our internet connection decided to take a few sick days off and stopped working over the past few days. But everything’s all good now. I have to say that I was actually somewhat surprised that Jayden arrived when he did; two weeks early. I was told numerous times throughout our pregnancy that first babies tend to come late. But I can’t say that I didn’t expect him to come when he did, as our midwife told us last week that he could come over the weekend. And hey, she was right! I guess Jayden was anxious to meet his Mommy and Daddy. I know we were definitely anxious to meet him!

As I type this, Jayden is fast asleep in his bassinet. I must be crazy because I don’t know why I’m not taking advantage of this rare opportunity to get some sleep in for myself. I know I’ll probably regret it later, but being able to watch my beautiful baby boy sleep so soundly makes it all worthwhile.

I love every little thing about my son. From his little tiny feet and little tiny toes, to his fat little cheeks (that he got from his Mommy!), to the sound he makes when he settles down from crying. You all should hear it. It’s like a high-pitched sound, like he’s singing or something, and it sounds so cute (for lack of a manlier word)! I love holding him. He’s my little man! I even love changing his stinky little diapers. Although I’ve seen his poop go from a thick tar-like black, to a regurgitant seaweed-like green, I can’t help but to smile as I wipe his little tush (for lack of another manlier word) while he kicks the crap out of my hands when I attempt to strap his fresh diaper on. I even love the bajillion little farts he’s been spurting out left and right over the past few days. Sure the horrid smell has melted every nose hair in both of my nostrils, I still love them nonetheless. They’re actually quite funny. And the face he makes afterwards is priceless! It always goes something like this:

Jayden’s Butt: bbBbbBbBrrRrrrRRrrAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnnNNnnTTTtt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jayden: Oh YES that was a good one! now……falling……a……slee……p……*snore*

Ya gotta love it!

And of course, we’ve been taking pictures like crazy. So for those of you who didn’t skip down to them already, here are Jayden’s first six days of life, in pictures! (By the way, we’ll post his hospital picture as soon as we get it copied!)

Mommy will be updating with a post of her own soon. She’s going to be sharing her whole experience with everything over this past weekend. Also, in honor of Mommy officially becoming a mommy, we have a special surprise planned! We’ll be announcing it tonight, so look forward to that!

Well I have to go now, Jayden’s calling!

Meet Jayden Elijah!

We are still at the hospital. They want to keep Jayden for another 24 hours to monitor his vitals. So, Mommy has to stay so that he can eat. And of course, I’m staying with!

He’s been really good. He’s hardly cried at all, with the exception of a couple of times when he was hungry. He’s been pooping and farting like crazy though! He’s spent much of the time sleeping since he made his way out of the womb last night. There were a couple of times though where his little eyelids peeked open and he started looking around to observe his new surroundings. He even looked up at me for a while. I love my new baby boy!

Mommy’s been pretty good also. She’s just extremely tired because she hasn’t gotten much sleep. We’ve been staying up to enjoy our little ball of wonder. Yeah, it’s pretty much safe to say that sleep don’t live here no more! He packed his bags and hit the road!

I just wanted to give everyone a small update on what’s going on. He’s getting his hospital picture taken in a half an hour, so I’m going to run back to the house to get an outfit to put him in. We packed an outfit for him in Mommy’s overnight bag, but it’s a little too big for him.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by yesterday! Mommy and I really appreciate it! I’ll make sure to keep you guys updated when I can!
