Toys and books devoted to promoting diversity and positive self image are becoming increasingly popular. I don’t think they are as popular as they should be, but nevertheless they are getting their names out there. One line of toys that really stood out to me were Karito Kids dolls created by KidsGive. I’ve been wanting to try Horizon Organic milk for some time now. Thanks to Mom Central, I was able to try Horizon Organic Single Serve milk and I love it. Horizon Organic milk provides essential nutrients without the dangers of antibiotics, pesticides, or growth hormones. Fortified with Vitamins A and D, parents can feel good about making school lunches and after-school snacks. I received a sample of each flavor; regular, chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. It was like drinking liquid Neopolitan, absolutely delicious! Horizon Organic tastes so pure. Ever noticed the taste difference between tap and bottled water? The taste comparison of regular milk vs Horizon Organic milk is similar. One thing that I noticed is that the Horizon Organic strawberry and chocolate milks are white. After being amused that all flavors of milk are white, I had a duh moment. It’s organic milk, therefore it doesn’t contain any artificial food coloring! D-U-H!

I like to buy things in bulk, but milk is just one item that can’t be bought in bulk. I love the fact that when Jay gets older, I can buy Horizon Organic Single Serve in bulk without worrying about it going bad in a week. Horizon Organic Single Serve has a shelf life of about 2 months! The samples I received expire in November! Shelf life, doesn’t milk have to be refrigerated? Horizon Organic Single Serve can be stored away without having to be refrigerated! So I can just store them on top of our cupboards (we use that extra space up the since we don’t have a pantry) and pull them down as needed!

Quoting horizonorganic.com, here’s why the Horizon Organic milk has such a long shelf life:

Single serve milks are packaged in aseptic tetrapaks and unopened will keep at room temperature up to seven months or until the date code. The milk is pasteurized using UHT or ultra-high temperature process which is similar to UP or ultra-pasteurization, in which the milk is heated to >280° F for 2-3 seconds, but packaged in a sterile environment thus extending its shelf life. The package itself is durable, lightweight, convenient for transport, and uses low energy and few materials. It is recyclable at any local program that accepts aseptic packages.

We never really thought about how much of a hazard cleaning products could be until Jayden came into the picture. Just as the Nationwide commercial says, life comes at you fast. Kids are natural busy bodies and you can’t always be around to protect them. You can child proof the house, lock up the cleaning supplies, or put them up high. Why not take the extra step by swapping your potent cleaning supplies with supplies that are kid safe and environmentally friendly?

We’ve recently added another green product to our collection, Clorox Green Works dishwashing liquid. Green Works dishwashing liquid was released earlier this month and it is the newest product of the Clorox Green Works line. We use this dish soap to clean our dishes as well as Jayden’s toys. A little goes a long way. I love the fact that even though it is made with natural ingredients, it still cuts through grease and icky smells (think salmon). It really peeves me when pots and pans still smell like food. Green Works dishwashing liquid is available in Original, Water Lily, Tangerine, Free & Clear, and Simply Lemon scents. We are currently using the Original scent which has a pleasant citrusy smell. If you’re looking for a dishwashing liquid that’s mean BUT green, give this stuff a try!
