What To Expect When You’re Expecting 3rd Ed.
Scrapped by Mommy on January 3, 2008 – 8:14 pm -If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn't want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!
I’m currently reading What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It was a Christmas gift from Daddy’s mom. She read this same book when she was pregnant with him. Since then it has become much thicker and 1.2 million copies have been sold. I started reading at Chapter 9: 5 months since that’s how far along I am. I do flip back if there is a topic I’m interested in. I don’t advise any woman going through her first pregnancy to take the book to heart. As a first time mom I want the best for my baby but at the same time I realize that I can’t be 100% perfect. You definitely don’t have to follow all of the advice given in this book but it’s a good resource for newbies. It’s funny because this book explained some old wives’ tales that I have heard. #1. Don’t reach up for high things because the umbilical cord can wrap around the baby’s neck. #2. Don’t lay on your back because your baby will be laying on your spine, which is like lying on a pile of rocks. Guess who said these things? The same woman that bought me the book! Lol! Either she missed out on these explanations in the book or they were added in the 2nd and 3rd editions. Of course it’s not the best to lay on your back because it can lead to backaches, hemorrhoids, can interfere with digestion, breathing, circulations and other things, especially during months 4 and up. The pile of rocks is just an exaggeration, I guess to keep you from doing it, like most exaggerated wives’ tales. Anyway, when in doubt always be sure to ask your doctor, he/she knows best. Pick up the book, it’s fun to read. Just don’t panic if you can’t follow all of the suggestions given inside.
My Maternity Wear Choices
Scrapped by Mommy on December 24, 2007 – 12:05 pm -It’s about time I start shopping for maternity wear. I’ve started to burst out of my jeans. I do have a few pairs of jeans that I purchased 2 years ago that were too big and now they mysteriously fit, lol, but for how long? Right now I count on my lounge and yoga pants since they stretch and are more comfortable than jeans. Below are some of my top maternity wear choices.
Kiki’s Fashions - super cute shirts and dresses. I can’t fit any of their bottoms, they’re made for larger people and the inseams are short. Kiki’s Fashions is the Forever21 of maternity wear! Some of the shirts you can wear even if you aren’t pregnant.
GAP and Old Navy - stretchy maternity jeans in extended inseams! I have long legs so a 34 inseam is a must! I take back Old Navy! I tried on the XS maternity jeans and they were too big in the hips and butt! I may try ordering from GAP as their sizes run smaller.
[bump] - cute “baby under manufacturing process” shirts for mom and dad! Gotta love novelty items!
B-Buckles - stylish belt buckles that will allow me to continue wearing some of my jeans!
Belly Dance Maternity - Very cute designer clothing, plenty of choices in the outlet section! I love a good bargain!
I’m also looking for other maternity products that I can review! Have anything in mind, contact me!
