Mother’s Day Recap

Posted on May 11, 2009 with 3 Comments

If you're new here, please consider subscribing to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn't want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!

Mother’s Day got off to a late start. Jayden decided that he wanted to wake up at 2am to snack and play. He was up until about 6am, so due to lack of sleep, we ended up sleeping late. After waking up, we exchanged gifts with my MIL-to-be. She got me Story of a Lifetime from RedEnvelope, and we got her Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout for Wii. My GIL-to-be gave me cash which I couldn’t wait to spend.

After exchanging gifts, we got ready and hurried over to my mother’s house to give her her gift, a BHG quilt set. She got me earrings. We spent time at my mother’s house and let Jayden run crawl wild. I wore my Happy Mom tee that PeaceLoveMom sent me. It was a good day, despite it’s late start. We have plans to take our mother’s out to eat this week as part of our Mother’s Day gifts.

To celebrate our engagement anniversary, Greg, Jayden and I had breakfast at Ihop and did some shopping for ourselves today. And for once we didn’t buy anything for Jayden - although it was hard!

Jayden and I had the honor of being featured in the Why Moms Matter eBook compiled by Momfaves.com and ExtraordinaryMommy.com. Be sure to download it, there are some incredible photos inside that represent motherhood. Any proceeds from the purchase of the hardcover version will be donated to The March of Dimes in honor of Maddie Alice Spohr.

Valentine’s Day 09: GQ Jay Photo Cards & Stamps!

Posted on February 14, 2009 with 13 Comments

GQ Jay VDAY Card Design

For Valentine’s Day I decided to design Valentine’s Day photo cards of Jayden and send them out to family. I had the design completed weeks ago but why will I be mailing them today…Valentine’s Day? Time always seems to get away from me no matter how hard I try to do things early.

When thinking about the design of the photo cards, I wanted to dress Jayden up like Cupid and go with red schemed cards. The more I thought about it, the more unoriginal and babyish the idea seemed. I mean come on, Jayden is too mature for that, lol! When I look at him, I see a big boy in a little dumpling’s body. I thought it would be best to do GQ themed photo cards.

Sending out Valentine's Day photo cards

To add a special touch, I decided to use customized Photo Stamps on each envelope.

I know, I know. Postage is already through the roof, so it is hard to justify the price of Photo Stamps. If you choose to purchase Photo Stamps, it’s best to use them for special occasions. Send them to people who would appreciate them. Order a sheet of 27 cent stamps and then use a regular 17 cent stamp to foot the balance. It always helps to check online for coupon codes as well.

I can’t wait until the photo cards arrive in the hands of our family and friends. I know they are going to love and get an extra kick out of the little hottie on the postage.

Special thanks to the folks at stamps.com for providing us with Photo Stamps this Valentine’s Day!

Photos from the GQ Jay set can be viewed here.

ProFlowers Giveaway Winners!

Posted on February 9, 2009 with No Comments

Last week, we ran a giveaway in which we had entrants fill in the blanks to a pre-written poem, and I have to say, we got a lot of interesting entries! Some were funny, some were confusing, and some were really X-RATED! Overall though, we got a lot of good ones, which made it really hard to choose only five winners. But we had to, so here they are (in no particular order):

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you, Rudi!
The very thought of you,
Makes me want to say, “The pirates can stop looking, I’ve found the booty!”

by Shannon

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you, Lee!
The very thought of you,
Makes me want to take you on a romantic drive to the sea, get down on a knee and ask that you please marry me. Will you agree, my little chickadee?

by Karly

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you, JOE!
The very thought of you,
Makes me want to buy you Deluxe Hugs & Kisses Flowers from PRO!

by K.C.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you, John
The very thought of you,
Makes me want to feel irie mon!

by Jennae

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you, Mary!
The very thought of you,
Makes me want to watch the entire first season of Diff’rent Strokes starring Coleman, Gary!

by Ed VanEtten

Congratulations to the winners, who each will receive a $70 gift certificate to ProFlowers.com! If you are one of these winners, expect an e-mail from me tonight!

But wait, there’s more! For those of you who didn’t win, but would still like to order something from ProFlowers.com, you can receive 20% off of your purchase! Complete an order at ProFlowers.com using this link and you will receive 20% off of your order AND a free glass vase! Remember, it’s still not too late to put in an order and receive it by Valentine’s Day! ProFlowers offers convenient (although a bit expensive) overnight shipping, so you have all the way until February 13th to put in an order for Valentine’s Day!
