One Big Holiday Giveaway To Help Feed Needy Families (CLOSED)

by MommyandDaddy on November 16, 2009

in Giveaways, Holidays, Support A Cause

holidaygiveaway

This year, we are using our Holiday Gift Guide to help raise money for our Libby’s Virtual Canned Food Drive. This is something new that we are doing, so we are starting our goal at $500. Hopefully we can meet that goal or even surpass it!

To make things a little fun, we’ve rounded up some awesome prizes that will make great gifts this holiday season! It is our hope that through this giveaway, we can bring awareness to the food drive and you’ll be inclined to donate. We’d like to offer something in return, but legally we cannot. We hope that knowing that you are helping provide food to families in need is sufficient :) . Can you believe that by donating $5, you would be providing 35 meals to needy families?!

How to Donate

Remember, you are not obligated to donate to enter the giveaway and we cannot offer anything in return such as extra entries or virtual hugs, but we hope that you will find it in your heart to donate anyway.

Donations $5 or More
For donations of $5 or more, please donate directly to our Libby’s Virtual Canned Food Drive. You can choose to donate more than $5, but there is an option to donate a minimum of $5. Simply select to help provide as many meals for hungry families as possible and type in $5.00. Anything less won’t go through, we already tried, which is why we are presenting another option below.

Donations Less Than $5
For donations less than $5, please donate to our Chipin Virtual Canned Food Drive. You don’t have to have a Paypal account to donate; there is an option to donate via credit/debit above the card logos.

Prizes

This list of prizes will be updated as new sponsors join us. There’s still time! Reviews will be linked as they are published.

Rules

There are many ways to enter this giveaway. You can choose to enter however you like.

Worth 1 Entry: Leave a comment letting us know what you love about the holiday season, some gifts that are on your wishlist, or your holiday plans.

Worth 1 Entry: Become a fan of Mommy Daddy Blog on Facebook. Leave a comment with your Facebook name or URL.

Worth 1 Entry: Tweet about this giveaway and leave an additional comment linking to your tweet (how to link directly to a tweet). You can write whatever you’d like or you can copy and paste the text provided below.

Worth 1 Entry: Grab the giveaway button to put on your blog. Leave a separate comment letting us know that you’ve done so.

This giveaway is open to residents of the US and will run through December 10th, 2009 at 7PM CST.

We’d like to thank all of our sponsors for helping us put this together. With their help and yours, we hope to raise over $500 to help feed needy families!

I love most about the holidays are the lights and decorations everywhere! Decorating our house
Baking with my kids and spending time w/ our family! We always put together a box of donations for the Battered Women’s Shelter and it has helped my kids learn to share and that everyone at some point in their life may need help, so you always help others! Just enjoying the spirit of Christmas that you can actually see in some people is amazing! Remembering Christ and what Christmas is all about is another thing that is important to us. Our holiday plans are to stay at home this year as things have been hard since we have both been laid off. We hope to still be able to make a nice Christmas for our kids- We can give gifts at any time but rarely get to spend time together. This year we are doing what our kids like to do (within reason). Things like singing their fav songs, watching their fav shows and fixing their fav foods from what we currently have is what we plan to do. Also making some old fashioned decorations and going to the elderly community to sing and pass out candy canes. It will still be a nice holiday!

Thx for the generous gifts you have put out for chances to win and ty to all of the sponsors for being so generous!

Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love that it brings my extended family together from both far and wide.
This year will be even more special because everyone will be gathering at my home. And I will be hosting and preparing Christmas dinner.

Thank you so much for the chance to win. But most of all for doing what you are to help those that would otherwise go without.

But I really DO love that, this time of year makes everyone moan alittle less and give alittle more & I love that! And my children are still at home so I get one more year to enjoy them. :D

What I would about the holiday? The best part of the Christmas holiday for me is seeing the delight in my children’s eyes when give. We actively support the Angel Tree Ministry and after my children have shopped for presents they actually get to watch the children we selected to sponsor open the gifts. I’m not sure who gets more excited, the children we sponsored or my children. The gift of giving, and seeing that my children really get it is the best part of my holiday season!

I like when my kids get into the giving spirit . My 8 year old and his dad went to wally world today and my son had just gotten a 2 dollar bill in the mail from his great grandma..he was going to spend it there but he saw the Salvation army bell ringer in front of WalM before he went in and put his bill in there instead without even being asked to. I really wish i had money to donate but like most we’re struggling from day to day.
What I love most about Christmas is the excitement in my childrens eyes. Their belief in Santa and what is to come.
Every year we try to brighten someones Christmas and it may be small, but if it brings just one smile that warms my heart to no end. I am hoping to win this for my children to give them what we can’t this year, and perhaps touch more families as well.
Thank you for the chance.

The special thing I am doing this Christmas season is publicizing a Christmas Tree sale that one of my former students is having. He and his wife and 5 children are raising money to adopt a baby girl from Ethiopia. So far they have had two garage sales, a baby bottle change collection, and now the Christmas Tree sale. Even one of the children got into the action all alone and raised $350 with a pop can and pop bottle collection. By next May 31, they need to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of the adoption. I love that most people are in good moods during the holidays – more tolerant and just nicer! On my Christmas wish list – not much – a toaster oven, is one thing I need; our old one is on the fritz. We always go to my parents house 30 minutes away for the holidays…and my sister flies in town of course! thanks

Our holiday plan this year will be to host my hubby’s brother and family for Christmas. I enjoy just about everything about Christmas. I’m looking forward to it because there will be 5 children (ages 8-22 months) there and Christmas morning is sure to be a blast.

What I love most about the Holidays is that all our family gets together. A number of my nieces and nephews are getting older and we don’t see them often. One of my Nephews is in the Navy & stationed in Japan and this Christmas will be the first time in two years that we’ll be seeing him. I just love all the hustle & bustle of the house being filled with all the people that we love.
Thanks so much.

I love spending time with family – my extended family on Christmas Eve to eat tamales and Christmas day with my immediate family. My little boy’s anticipation of Santa’s arrival also tugs at my heart strings.

What I love about this particular holiday season is that this year will be the first Thanksgiving and Christmas spent in my parents new home. They lost their previous home in a house fire about 2 weeks after Christmas last year. It will be exciting to make new memories in their new home.
