Boogie’s Bath Time Favs For Eczema Relief & Fun!

by Mommy on April 12, 2009

We love products that help make bath time enjoyable for Jayden. We make sure to choose products that will keep his eczema at bay and toys that are exciting for him to play with. Below are Boogie’s bath time favs for eczema relief and fun!

oliveoil

Olive Oil – Adding a cap full of Olive Oil in to Jayden’s bath water helps soften his skin while he soaks in the tub. Sometimes we apply olive oil all over his body after bathing and then follow with raw shea butter. We also use it in his hair as it helps repair split ends, heals dandruff, and adds shine dull strands.

sheabutter

Raw Shea Butter – We butter our boogie up like a little turkey. Although raw shea butter is a bit on the messy side and may not have a glorifying smell, it is rich in nutrients. When refined, it loses much of it’s natural fatty acids which are very beneficial to the skin.

spatimesoap

Natural Soaps – We only use soaps that are free of parabens, phthalates, and petrochemicals that will irritate his skin. Handmade soaps from Spa Time Baby work wonderfully on Jayden’s delicate skin. If placing an order at SpaTimeBaby.com, enter the code Cozy at checkout to receive 25% off!

boon

Fun Toys! – Jayden loves splishing and splashing with Boon Bath Goods and Scrubble set. He enjoys throwing them overboard (out of the tub) and I am guilty of playing Splat ring toss and going after the Water Bugs O:-). The spacious Frog Pod houses every single one of these lovely toys so that our bathroom doesn’t look like a play room.

bathtimebooks

Bath time Books – Books like eebee’s Bath Time Adventure and Quack, Quack, Quack are great for parent-baby interaction during bath time, although Jayden enjoys pretty much just chewing on and tossing the books about in the water!

itsacurl

Organic Baby Hair Care – It’s A Curl – Organic Baby Curl Care is formulated for African American and biracial babies with curls. Peek-a-Boo Tearless Shampoo, Patty Cake Conditioner, Ring Around the Curlies Leave In Cre’me transforms Boogie’s little poof in to a nice sleek look. If placing an order, let Curls.biz know that I sent you by entering referral code REF-B77ANLA0 at checkout :-) .

Well, my little one isn’t due for a couple of months yet… but he/she sure does love kicking while Mom’s in the shower! I have a feeling I’m in for some very active bathing sessions in a few months. This little one’s a waterbaby just like mom and dad!

My first little one isn’t here yet (he’s due in less than a week!) but we already have a special “bathtime” together. In the mornings when I wake up he is very still and still sleeping, I guess. But when I get in to the shower he always wakes up. It’s so much fun feeling his first stretches of the day! :) Thanks for the great giveaway!

Such a cute blog!!

Well, first, I’m psyched about the giveaway (lookit me, squeakin’ it at the last minute, teehee), so here’s my story of bathtime fun.

We have twins, a boy and a girl. They’re three. I’m really interested in your post above becauase we struggle w/the boy’s exema, too! Nice to know there are others out there. Anyway, three year old twin bathtime includes the following:

1. splashing
2. screaming
3. fighting over toys
4. splashing mommy
5. splashing daddy
6. splashing each other
7. screaming
8. arguing over what shampoo to use
9. splashing
10. splashing

Oh the joys.

The bath is the perfect place to blow bubbles in the house (who cares if they spill them!), Ialso will read to them while they are in the tub. I did it one time and they ask me to read now while they are in there.

46 jjean April 25, 2009 at 9:25 am

My baby twins aren’t old enough for much activity in the bath, yet, but we do enjoy our infant massage time. The boys are so loose and relaxed after their bath & massage that they sleep much better.

Bathtime with 2 little one needless to say it nothing but fun…out tub is big enough that me and my 3 and 2 year old get in with massive amounts of bubbles, and all the play teaset and toys we can fit, they have a ball, we splash , they like to stay in till they turn ito prunes…finally with the help of another sibling or my husband we can get them out, but it is not easy, I think they would stay all day if we let them…Also the love to wash my hair…it is LONG..of course I have to re-wash when we are done, but for the qualitly time , I am happy to do it, it is times like these you can never get back, and when they get too old you cant do it anymore so enjoy your babies while you can …they grow FAST…TOO FAST

52 Katelyn April 24, 2009 at 4:00 pm

53 Laura G April 24, 2009 at 3:50 pm

right now we just splash…a little too early for much else.

54 Heather M April 24, 2009 at 3:47 pm

We love splashing each other. She’s 2 and sometimes mommy needs a bath as well. So we get in together some of the time and splash each other. My daughter also has eczema and she only gets 1 bath a week because her skin gets so dry. I need to try the olive oil trick. THANK YOU!

55 Mir April 24, 2009 at 2:41 pm

I usually sit on the side of the bath while my daughter slpashes and chases the toys she has. Once she gets over the original excitement, she starts offering her toys to me – she chews a little, then I’m supposed to chew and then she chews and we go on and on and on.

We count in Spanish and German as we rinse their hair. They can already count to 20 in each of those languages. Plus it distracts them as we’re rinsing (their least favorite part of the bath)!!!

thanks for the tips on the Olive oil and wash. All three of my children suffer from terrible eczema and Although I’ve heard this before about the olive oil I never heard of anyone who used it. I’m going to give it a try. Anything worth it if it helps. It breaks my heart to see them so itchy and their skin so rashy.

My boys and I play car wash. We have a great fisher price car wash that has a shower that lets you rinse off the cars after they have been washed by the boys with bubble hands. They love it and giggle as we sing the car wash song and count the cars as they are done.

Our son also has eczema, so we don’t do bubble bath, but we have a toy fish that blows bubbles which he loves!!!

My son loves to use soap crayons in the tub. He has me write his name first. Then I draw trains, cars, cats, stars, moons, circles, triangles, sheep and many other things. We also sing songs.

My little guy, who just turned 4, has a set of clorful cups with different shaped holes in their bottoms and he loves filling them up with water and watching the water flow out differently from each one. He has other cups too, like yogurt and butter cups that he loves to fill and then he uses them to give his animal toys baths. It is very cute! He loves bath time.
Thanks for the great giveaway!

Now that 2 of my grandchildren live with me the one thing I learned about bath time is to stand back. They each have such a great time playing that the floor does get pretty wet. I just keep a close watch on them and stay out of the way. Thank you!
