Tantrumatic! You are brilliant. Just you wait...that word will probably be in the dictionary in 5 years. ;)

I recognize that air protect car seat that your son is riding in. Our 3-year-old has the same one and we love it!

Last thing: I am always *stunned* by families who say they never snack in the car. I don't know how they do it! I always try to bring snacks - even for short trips across town.

GOLDFISH!!! The ol' stand by! Though I don't have any children of my own just yet, I have nieces and nephews and that's what I pack when we travel. Juice boxes, water, Goldfish, grapes, sliced apples and lots of wipes! lol

We usually pack banana chips, freeze dried apples, graham crackers, etc. If everyone gets too hungry, we'll usually stop off some place to eat. We don't really do much traveling though, as the bulk of our family is within 10-20 minutes of our home.

We don't travel a lot but for everyday running around I keep Goldfish crackers in a resealable bag and an applesauce with a spoon in my bag. When you are on your third kid you kind of do away with the diaper bag. If the whole family is going somewhere I always pack a small cooler of drinks and make turkey and provolone sandwiches on wheat rolls and pack chips and cookies or something. Of course all it takes is a whiff of fast food and we are pulling up to grab a few cheeseburgers and fries!

I can NOT function if I'm hungry. I get extremely grumpy so on long trips we make stops to Micky D's to grab at least a large fries. My fiance however can function just fine if he's hungry.

Which is why I make sure he drives :)

Whenever we travel anywhere whether it be near or far, we bought a cute little mini dustpan combo from Dollar Tree that just sits in the side of the door and can be accessed when the need arises. We love it.

My best, Lynn

We're traveling to Ohio from British Columbia in our VW camper van soon. We don't have any kids yet, but we are taking our cat. When I start to get cranky, my husband asks when the last time I had something substantial to eat was, and it's even more important to keep track of it on the road because there are fewer ways/places to get something decent to eat.

I had intended to make some apple chips, but can't find an abundance of apples. I'll take some grapes, and my husband will stop along the way and get some chips, but I try to avoid salty things on road trips because they dehydrate me. I will, though, be taking some Special K bars--not especially healthy, but oh so yummy!

I imagine when we have kids, we'll make sure to keep a whole cooler of fruit & veggies with us--if they're anything like their dad, they'll be happy making fruit meals three times a day.

We're traveling to Canada this Christmas. A nice 4+hr drive. So we let the girls pack their small backpack with a toy each, books, coloring books etc. They also have dvd players in the back as well. As for snacks, I pack juice boxes and 100 calorie snack items, they're the perfect size for the girls. As for the mess, yea no advice there lol our car is always a mess after trips.

I wish that I could travel to see family! Unfortunately, I don't socialize with much of my family abroad but when I travel to see my grandmother (30-45 min ride), I like to carry simple things as well. I don't like the inconvenience of having to clean up so much of a mess!
