Friday May 29th: Heading To Walt Disney World With My Boogie

This post is part of a series of posts I’m writing about my adventure at the 2nd Walt Disney World African American Mom Blogger Mixer.

Back in May, I had the opportunity to flee to Disney World for a kid-free weekend courtesy of Maria Bailey at BSM Media, but I chose to bring my Booga Shuga along with. He is the baby behind this blog, so he deserved to go too! And I’ll admit, I wanted to show him off, lol. Hey, I’m a proud mama. I was a little worried about how he would behave on the plane. It was his first plane ride! And you know, people on planes can be complete A-Holes when it comes to children riding along. Some of the things children do can be controlled by their parents, but infants, they don’t know any better.

100_0489.JPG Due to an accident that brought traffic to a near halt, we arrived at the airport late. By then Boogie was screaming hysterically. We had to wake up around 5am, so needless to say he had every reason to be a little cranky. I missed check in outside by 9 seconds, so I was advised to speak with an agent to be put on a stand-by flight. I didn’t want to sit in the airport for a whole hour, but Boogie and I got our hugs and smooches from Daddy and we were off to the gate.

I was amazed at the help we got from total strangers at the security checkpoint. I couldn’t get the travel stroller folded. I should have tested it out the night before. A random man and woman came to the rescue. They were seasoned parents, lol. Boogie was on his best behavior. That kind of behavior is granted on a mircale. Boarding the plane, I found myself sitting in the middle seat, between.two.men. I was so hoping that I wouldn’t have to nurse him. Being the nervous mom who didn’t want to get dirty looks because of her kid, I assured them that he’s a good boy and he’d hopefully take a nap. HE.SLEPT.THE.ENTIRE.FLIGHT! Can I get a hallelujah!?

After arriving in Orlando, we proceeded to catch the Magical Express. We waited a good 30 minutes. I was so hot, sweaty, and ready for a shower. While riding The Magical Express, Boogie notified me that he wanted to nurse. So we proceeded to the restroom at the back of the bus. Since it was a bumpy ride, we stayed in there until the driver stopped. He asked me if I was alright when I sat back down, anti-bacterial wipes and Boogie in tow. I didn’t want everyone thinking I was in there taking a dump, so I let him know that I was nursing Boogie *blushes*.

When we arrived at The Boardwalk Resort, the staff gave us a warm welcome. If only there were more people in the world like them. As soon as we entered our room, all BOOGIE broke loose! He.had.to.touch.everything!

Since we arrived late, I didn’t plan on going to dinner with the girls. I smelled like I was fresh out the gym and our luggage had not arrived yet. I felt so bad because I didn’t want to seem antisocial. I didn’t want to make a bad impression. I felt like everyone was having fun without me :-( . Little did I know that poor Michele was having some drama at the airport as well, so she got in late too.

The Celebration team brightened my day. They came knocked on our door, Disney swag in tow. It was supposed to be a surprise, but since I was having technical difficulties, I was still lurking in the room. To make it special, Boogie and I went out on the balcony while the team decorated the room.

Boogie and I got settled, dined on a $33 pizza ($16 was in tax, service fee, and tip), took a bath and prepared for what would be a looong and fun filled Saturday with some amazing women!

On a side note…

Do you guys know that he jumped in the tub face first in his clothes??? I would have taken a picture but he wasn’t too thrilled at what he had done, lol. All his monkey business was rounds for a time out! I see why our room was nestled down a long hall in the corner, lol.

Time Out
