Crunchy Fun Facts

It’s not often that I share information about myself or our family. I’d like to, but I seem to always be blogging about something else. *sigh* I was over at Jaymi’s blog and saw that she shared some of her crunchiness with her readers. So I thought it would be fun to do the same. And let me begin by saying that I am kinda naturally crunchy if that makes sense. I just go with the flow and do what works best for me, which has coincidentally been coined and hyped up as…crunchy.

  • I wear my hair in dreadlocks. I chose to lock my hair as a challenge. I had been wearing my hair natural for over 2 years, which was a challenge. Locking it challenged me further and has helped me mature as a person.
  • Sometimes I wear Jay. I think if I had more carriers to choose from, I’d do it more.
  • We use Nature Babycare, Seventh Generation, and Huggies Naturals disposable diapers as well as cloth.
  • Me and hand-me-downs, thrift stores, and the clearance racks are close friends.
  • We co-sleep and couldn’t imagine sleeping any other way. Sometimes we fight over who’s going to cuddle the Boogie at night, lol.
  • I’m still breastfeeding Jay. He’s 13 months. I have no plans to wean, we’ll just see what happens.
  • We selectively vaccinate.
  • We try to use all natural cleaners but still keep pine-sol and bleach around.
  • I prefer using organic or natural beauty products. Unfortunately I haven’t found an effective solution for break-outs yet :-/.
  • We have a small garden on our balcony of lettuce, green peppers, and tomatoes.
  • We stopped buying bottled water and we now filter our tap.
  • I have a whole wheat obsession.
  • And I have an obsession with earth tones.

I also took the How Crunchy Are You? test and scored a 91/225 which classifies as whole-grain crunch, lol. How crunchy are you?

great to hear your breastfeeding at 13 months! Keep it up! I still nurse my 3 yr old during our morning cuddles. The time goes so quickly by, you’ll miss it when it’s over.

I got sick and stressed right around my son’s first birthday and dried up. I miss it! It was so nice to have him totally relaxed like that!

I scored 119 on that crunchy test.
My 2nd born totally quit on me when she was 11 months to the day! I was not prepared for that and it took me a while to get over it.
I hope Ashleigh nurses for much longer. I love having that closeness and don’t want it to go away anytime soon.
I envy your veggie garden. Last year we had success with bell peppers, tomatoes and 1 strawberry plant but couldn’t get the lettuce to grow. This year we have none :-)

I am LOVING this post. I have been parenting my children with what has come naturally to me too, and now all of a sudden my parenting has been deemed as “attachment parenting.” (Who knew that I would accidentally follow the new parenting craze? lol)

My fiance wears his hair in dread locks and has been trying to convince me to do the same as well. I have been tempted because I think that they are beautiful.

I have just been introduced to “baby wearing” and I love that as well. I reviewed a sling from Chic Tots and have been hooked every since. I wish I would have discovered this with my first four. I am also a breast feeding mama and plan on breast feeding my baby until he decides he wants to stop. (Or he enters pre-school. Either or. :) )

I want to transition to cloth diapers in the morning with my youngest. This has been something that I have been hesitant on doing because I don’t really know a lot about cloth diapers.

I could comment on and on, but I don’t want to turn my comment into a post all by itself. I just wanted to let you know that I love this post and if you don’t mind, I would love to borrow this idea for my blog.

    Keep the personal post coming!

I love this “personal post,” Sheena!

I took the test and scored “85.”

I breastfeed, co-sleep, babywear, and do my best to live a “green” lifestyle.

That said, we still do use disposable diapers and we don’t use NFP (but I’d like to look into it).

    Thanks for the fun post.

Wow! You are really crunchy! (but I sort of knew that already – hee hee) My hat goes off to you for the conscious changes you have made.

Hi! I found your blog through BlogHer. I just wanted to give you a tip for all natural breakout remedies- if you use a dab of tea tree oil on the blemishes it will really help. :) Congrats on breastfeeding your son so long!

I’m just reading through some of your archived posts (found you through Frugal Upstate) and I have to tell you that I highly recommend the oil cleansing method for a natural way to “cure” acne. It really works! http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/
