It’s been two weeks since we kicked off our living room makeover sponsored by Better Homes And Gardens and Walmart. To catch everyone up, we were given a $500 Walmart gift card to give our living room a Better Homes And Gardens inspired makeover. It’s time for an update! Since my last post, I’ve held Greg hostage at our local Walmart shopping for home furnishings. Since we have to “go to town” to get to our nearest Walmart, I tried my best to get all of the shopping done in one trip. So far we’ve taken two trips to Walmart and placed 2 orders online.
With all of the new home furnishings coming in to the house, Boogie couldn’t help but to add his input!

I must say, our living room is coming together. It looks much better than before, but the white walls remain untouched. Lets compare the living room before with the living room in transition.

White Walls + Over Budget
I’m having a hard time trying to figure out what to put on the walls. I had the idea of placing vinyl quotes on the walls, but they aren’t reusable. Once peeled off the wall, they won’t restick – at least to my knowledge. If we move, I want to be able to take them along. I am hesitant to hang things up on the walls because I like for them to be hung perfectly and without the use of extra tools. If I could find one big piece to hang on our largest walls, I would.
To make matters worse, we’re already over our $500 budget. Let’s take a look at what we’ve purchased so far.
Items that Are Being Put To Use
Better Homes and Gardens® Willow Mountain Credenza – $179.00
Better Homes and Gardens® Lexington Loveseat Slipcovers – $109.92
Better Homes and Gardens® Lined Solid Taffeta Window Panel x 3 – $38.64
Better Homes and Gardens® Hampton Black Decorative Rod Set – $16.88
Better Homes and Gardens® 59″ Swing-Arm Floor Lamp – $39.97
Better Homes and Gardens® Accent Lamps x 2 – $19.94
Live Plant & Pot – $35.00
Better Homes and Gardens® Round Wire Candle Holders, 3 Piece Set – $10.34
Kids Rocker Chair, Chocolate Micro – $48.88
Extra Items
Better Homes and Gardens® Ashley Window Set Spice – $38.64
Once the slip covers arrived, I didn’t like these anymore. They didn’t quite go with the slip covers. Since they’ve been taken out and then stuffed back in to the packaging, I’ll give them to my mother.
Better Homes and Gardens® Bronze Wrought Iron Picture Frame – $15.92 for 2
There’s no room on the tables for them. Thou shall not clutter! I may hang them up on the walls.
8 Opening Collage Picture Frame – $12.00
I have plans to hang this on the wall, but not until I have an ultimate plan for all of the walls.
Wooden Placemat – $4.00
I thought I could do something pretty cool with it, we shall see.
So as you can see we went over by $69.13. Now lets add $42.54 in tax and shipping, for a grand total of $111.67. We are $111.67 over budget. *WOMP WOMP*
The credenza and slip covers killed our budget. Since those items made up most of the budget, we had to go with the Better Homes And Gardens brand. After all, they are sponsoring this makeover! We must dig ourselves out of this hole. Stay tuned to find out what item(s) we return to Walmart and how we manage to liven up the white walls! I think I have an idea, bwahaha!
To see what my fellow bloggers, Katja of Skimbaco Lifestyle and Colleen of Classy Mommy have done with their rooms, check out their progress here! Katja’s bedroom inspires me to give our bedroom a makeover and Colleen’s got me itching to buy a new dining table and chairs! I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole apartment didn’t get a makeover by summer! I am truly enjoying this!

The walls look a little warmer. I love the little chair for Boogie. I had one for my kids that reclined. The credenza looks nice and sturdy. How is the storage inside? Roomy? I really like those lamps. I love how you are going the way of no clutter. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Boogie’s chair is so adorable! Green walls would look awesome or you could do just one as a sort of accent.
