*OVER* Would You Like To SmartShop With DOLE Fruit Parfait Coupons?

smartshopper

We’ve been out all day today and I am pooped. First there was Boogie’s well visit. He’s doing great or as the doctor put it “above average” :-D . Excuse me for taking a moment to toot my son’s horn. Who doesn’t? Then there was the bank, post office, Walmart and the encounter with the big juicy deer that we missed by 5 feet.

We usually keep our grocery and errands lists on notebook paper. We list errands first, then groceries by aisle and department. Problem is that the lists always seem to get misplaced or crunched. We always end up redoing the list at least 3 times before actually going to the store. Today we did something different, we used the SmartShopper to organize our errands and grocery list, excluding the run in with Bambi.

The SmartShopper is a pretty cool device that allows you to program and print your errands and grocery list using your voice. You simply hit the record button, say a product or errand, ans it’s added to the list. When you’re ready to print, hit print. It comes pre-programmed with 2,500 common errands and products. If there is something that hasn’t been pre-programed into the SmartShopper, you can add custom items to the library. There’s even an option to add a coupon reminder to an item so that you don’t forget to use your coupons.

The SmartShopper’s strong magnet allows it to be mounted to the refrigerator or any metal surface. We keep ours on the side of the fridge. I love how it organizes everything in their rightful categories, just as we were doing on notebook paper. And since the lists stay on the SmartShopper, we can use them over and over. There’s no ink involved because Smartshopper uses thermal paper. I haven’t had any major problems with it recognizing my voice. If it doesn’t recognize a product, either I didn’t enunciate or it needed to be programed into the system.

The Smartshopper does have room for improvement. Here’s my two cents: It’s a bit on the clunky side. At least half of it’s size can be reduced. The printer is kind of slow, and there needs to be some kind of ridges (think scotch tape) to tear the paper on. It’s kind of hard to rip the list out of the printer. The price of $49.99 (although marked down) scares me a bit. I’m hoping to see those changes made with SmartShopper 2.0.

Since I need to add Emergen-C to my notepaper grocery shop, that would be one item I would add. I think this gadget looks wonderful. Your suggestion would make it even better.

.... 2 angel January 27, 2009 at 12:12 am

My husband will be home from deployment soon, so his favorites need to go on my list, Ballpark beef franks and doritos!

.... 3 Believer 1964 January 27, 2009 at 1:32 am

Having this gadget handy would cut down considerably on my many lists. The first thing I would add is wine for a new recipe I found, “OMG Pasta!”

.... 11 Shannon January 27, 2009 at 9:20 am

I usually write lists and either forget them or misplace them, ultimately not having them in the grocery store when I have my 3 kids with me. I don’t want to go back out to the car, so I just try to remember what I had on the list. That leads to me definitely buying more than I originally planned. That’s a great idea and I’d love to have one!

.... 12 Ronda Garnett January 27, 2009 at 10:01 am

I’d add soy milk, yogurt and spices.

.... 13 vickie January 27, 2009 at 10:38 am

.... 28 Stephanie January 27, 2009 at 1:54 pm

I’ve seen this product on several other blogs and I’m so impressed by the concept! Grocery shopping is not among my favorite tasks (in fact, I dislike it…), but this little device seems like it would take some of the “pain” out of that process.

What would I add? Oh, just my usual staples…fresh fruit and vegetables, organic milk, whole wheat bread, orange juice, etc.

P.S. I love that your reviews are so “real.” I feel like I can trust your opinion because you’re not afraid to write about the downsides of a product too.

P.P.S. I am totally checking out that Sweet Retreat Contest! I love Scottsdale!

.... 29 Kathryn Devlin January 27, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I would add the stuff I forget, like freezer paper.

.... 34 Laura Owens January 27, 2009 at 4:58 pm

Even though I get things like milk and bread with just about any shopping trip, I would probably put it in the list, just so I don’t forget it (which I have been known to do, because I am trying so hard to remember all the OTHER things I need!)

.... 35 Lori A. January 27, 2009 at 6:16 pm

This looks like a really cool gadget! I would definately add things that I feel like I’m constantly stopping to pick up – milk & bread! The coupon reminder would be helpful, too.

I’d add the basics like milk, bread, and salad fixings. Then, I’dd add a treat for me — a piece of fabric, some beads, etc.

Finally — I would tag the items for coupons because I seem to either leave them home or leave them in the bottom of my purse.

.... 41 Stacy January 27, 2009 at 8:21 pm

Well I would have the things that I always have to get when I go shopping: milk, bread and pop. It seems like we are always out of those things. Great giveaway, thanks!

.... 42 sarah January 27, 2009 at 8:33 pm

I would LOVE this item because my 8 month old always seems to play with the paper, and after he’s done with it the list is unrecognizable. This would be awesome to go with a plan and just stick it to the side of the basket while he plays with his toys and is none the wiser :)
Thanks for giveaway.
P.S. I would put diapers and formula on mine :)

.... 43 Jessica January 27, 2009 at 8:39 pm

.... 45 Rhonda Martin January 27, 2009 at 9:50 pm

I’d add my blogspots entry check back dates, My children’s pick up and drop off schedules, bills to pay dates and work location schedule dates. I could go on and on. I have a problem remembering things now because I had an accident and fell and hit my head hard on the ice last March and am still healing from that nasty fall. My short term memory is bad. My friends, family and co-workers have been helping me to keep it all together. My friend and co-worker reminds me of work schedule changes and my family calls me on my way home every night and tells me what to pick up at the store and reminds me who I have to pick up where from school activities. I am much better than I was 6 months ago but I still have a hard time remembering things. This is a wonderful little gadget that could help me a lot~! Not to mention I wouldn’t have to be so Dependant on others and I’m sure they would like not having to call me and remind me of things all the time. Thanks for Sharing this awesome item :)

I got my daughter in law hooked on the dole parfait’s and the frozen fruit sorbets when I visted her last week of pregnacy they are so good.
Here is my story why I need a smart shopper, First on my list is toliet paper I get so frantic when we get down to 6 rolls and no one has told me so here is why I need to be a winner:
How many things can I say I love about the smart shopper and why I want one so bad, all of them. I have teens and their favorite thing is to tell me when I’m busy what they need or want from the store and my number one saying in my house is:
GO WRITE IT ON THE SHOPPING LIST..
which is hanging on our fridge. They never do, so we’re at the store and needless to say it doesn’t get purchased. My husbands comment if I send him to the store I didn’t see that wrote on the list. This would save my family nightmare, as it seems so simple even my husband could do it.
Oh please make me a winner and save my grocery shopping sanity.
Thank you

I have been shopping at the same store for well over 10 years now, I know where everything is and I love it but no matter how good I am it seems I am always having to back track because I forgot something on an aisle, the Smart Shopper would be awesome.
We are creatures of habit with only a little flare, meaning we eat a lot of the same meals weekly with maybe 1 or 2 nights something new and different. So though my grocery list stays the same a lot a few new ingredients pop up on it from time to time.
Staples in our home are:

Campbells Mushroom Soup (this is one of those items I do not budge on getting store brand on, nothing I have ever tried compares). We use this in chicken enchiladas, homemade stroganoff, hamburger gravy over potatoes and just as a soup itself.

Rice A Roni, as bad as I know this is for the salt content it is a staple in our home because I am always wondering what to make for the ’side dish’ and if I am blank I have this as a back up. We especially like the chicken flavor. Sometimes we just make this and put in some cubed chicken and some peas and call it a meal.

Tortillas, is another staple in our home. So many possiblities; enchiladas, tacos, fried with cinnamon/sugar, homemade pizza, quesadillas.

That is just 3 basic staples for us that you will always find in our home. What I like about the Smart Shopper is it will remember and I can add or delete but since as I said we are creatures of habit it will keep me from having to trek back to the other side of the store wasting time…because honestly I have better things to do then spends hours at the grocery store each week. I would rather be home with my family.

My son loves the Dole Fruit Parfaits!!

Thank you for the chance to win Mommy Daddy, have a wonderful weekend, hope you do something fun :)

The SmartShopper is a busy mother’s dream come true! I am the one who needs this SmartShopper! With 3 young children, one being 6 months old, 2 dogs and a husband who counts as 2 people (LOL) I am forever getting to the grocery store or department store and forgetting to get something one of my family members told me to get. I have had to go back to the store on more occasions than I care to think about because I forgot to purchase something crucial that someone absolutely had to have! I will add things like doctors appointments times and dates that my kids have, meetings and activities for and about the kids will be added, important days like birthdays and reminders for getting gifts for those specials day, etc. This would make my life so much easier and my shopping so much for efficient if I had this very nifty gadget! I would also be much more organized in my visits to the grocery store and have some peace of mind! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.
