Mama Fakes A Poop Just To Be Alone! ROFL!

One day while reading one of my favorite parenting magazines, BabyTalk or Parenting, I fell upon something hilarious. There was a spread where mother’s confessed the things that they did to get a little alone time away from the kids. One mom said that she would fake a number two! She’d tell her husband that she had to go poop so she could sit in the bathroom and catch a few chapters of a good book. I immediately laughed out loud because I thought her idea was so clever. Of course I wouldn’t be able to get away with it because I don’t normally spend that much time on the can, lol!

I am trying to remember if I submitted a confession to one of those magazines because that is exactly what I do! LOL

Okay, but how wrong is this? I can’t do that because my doggone kids STILL come running into the bathroom while I’m trying handle my business. The hell? When will THAT stop?

To buy myself a little time, I simply warn everybody within the sound of my voice that I need a break and I don’t want to hear anyone so much as breathe for the next 30 minutes. Then I tell them what time 30 minutes is up, go into my room, close AND LOCK the door, and triple dog dare someone to knock/scream/holla/talk to me during my 30 minutes. Everybody knows it’s just not a good idea. And then there are some times when I convince my girls to “take a nap” with mommy… I cuddle with them, one on either side, and we sit and watch a show until we each fall asleep. I tell you, that’s the best kinda nap…

I have faked illness. You know just a 24 hour bug that will have you running back and forth to the bathroom. I only use that one when I just can not take it anymore and need a minute to myself to just relax and decompress. I have also faked a migraine. My kids talk nonstop add a hubby and dog on top and you will fake a migraine too, lol

I tell my kids I need to make an important call and I go in my room and shut the door. This can buy me as much as an hour if they’re occupied!

If I’m lucky, my youngest will take a decent nap and I’ll pop in a movie for my other child and off mommy goes to another room! This buys me about 20 minutes….not long enough!

my kids are a little older, but with my daughter I rarely get alone time like I would like. For me, that is fine because she will grow up quickly and then I will have TOO much alone time. Sounds pretty sad, but to get my alone time I have to go into the office, on a WEEKEND or week night after hours and work-no distractions, ringing phones, etc… that is usually when I get the most work done! At home, like right now, if it is late and everyone has gone to bed, then I have a few moments to go on the computer, read, watch tv, etc… before I fall asleep myself. Thanks for having this giveaway!

I take a hot bath with the door locked. Doesn’t always work but I can usually get at least 10 minutes.

When my kids were little I used to either take the dog for a walk or take a bath. In the case of the bath I’d have to lock the door or the whole family (including dog) would be in there peering down at me. Not relaxing at all. It wasn’t much better with the door locked. My boys would just knock until I’d had it and got out of the tub. Ah, the good old days.

Hi, Such a scrumptious giveaway prize drawing.
It would be great to win these goodies and enjoy indulging myself with them! My time alone comes with just a bit of craftiness. I either get up early or stay up late to have my time and space alone! Reading and a hot drink are with me on our deck if it is warm and fireside now.
Please enter me in your delightful giveaway drawing. Many thanks…..Cindi

I have my own business that I run from home. So, when I need some alone time I go downstairs in my office to “work”. Yes, I do some work then I stay down a little longer to read blogs, play computer games, catch up on e-mail, read a book… In fact, I am in my office right now!

  • Tara wrote 16 Nov at 5:19 am

I leave my headphones on like I’m still transcribing a file even though I’m done just so I can spend some time unwinding and surfing the Net. Shhhh . . . :P

Since I am a fulltime student I will use the excuse that I need to go study and then I will lock myself in the bedroom for a while. I don’t try it too often though since he knows I get most of my studying done during the day in the library!

I think I remember reading that in the magazine. I think that’s the excuse my husband always gives!! lol

  • michelle wrote 16 Nov at 5:21 am

I’ve also faked a poo, that doesn’t work in our house unless I lock the door! haha!

If I have an appointment I tell hubby or whoever is watching our daughter that it’s half an hour earlier than the real appointment time so I can sit in the waiting room reading a little longer! I also stay up late after my daughter’s in bed when my husband is working at night so I can watch a sappy girly movie, it’s worth being a little tired the next day just to do that once a week!

It has gotten so sad that I just make a trip to Walgreens to get some alone time ;)

  • Brooke wrote 16 Nov at 5:24 am

I drag out housework so I can be by myself.

  • tanyetta wrote 16 Nov at 1:34 pm

I mark my alone time on the fridge calendar. My family is pretty good about allowing me to have my alone time.

    Thank goodness ;)
