Santa Bring Me An External Flash, I’ve Been Good!

in Holidays, Motherhood

I absolutely abhor using the standard flash on my camera. I prefer to take pictures in natural sunlight. Taking pictures indoors when the sun’s not shining really funks things up. Yes I could use the standard flash, but to me that darn thing makes pictures look unprofessionally icky. So for Christmas I think I want an external flash so that I can feel better about snapping indoors. Right now sunlight is like crack to me. If the sun is shining, I have to take pictures! There are random moments during the night when I may snap a few pictures, but 9 times out of 10 I’m unhappy with them. And because Boogie can’t put his cuteness on hold until morning, I end up taking pictures I am unhappy with.

The moment above was too cute to miss so I would love to capture more precious moments like those at night. It’s not bad but could use some natural BAM (I watch too much Emeril)! Hopefully Santa will be good to me this year. Ok who am I kidding, all year has been like Christmas so the last thing I’m going to bug Mr. Claus for is an external flash – that and a new hairdo!

On a different note, although I Miss Wearing Maternity Clothes, I don’t plan on having any more boogies any time soon. I was just reflecting!

Oh, I am so with you there! I absolutely detest onboard flash but cute kiddie photos so often happen when it’s too dark. My husband just rolls his eyes at me when I don’t want to blast them with the tiny flash on the camera. So I give in but the photos truely are snapshots and nothing more.

That’s on my list too! (along with a couple lenses) I HATE flash photography and I think it takes a talented photographer (with good equip) to actually get a good flash photo. Natural Light photography is my pie, I love it!

I hate shooting with my flash.. have you tried playing with your ISO settings?? That helps a little.. I own an external flash and I have yet to really use it.. but with winter fast approaching and daylight being scarce it looks like I am going to have to get handy with it..

I hope Santa (ahem. Greg) gets you the flash.. LOL

I agree with you. My indoor pics are never that great with the standard flash. I hope that Santa will give you your wish!

Love the photo. Those little hamhock legs are too cute. I am not camera savvy at all but I am completely with you on the flash with indoor photos.

Oh, and I feel ya on the hairdo. My hair’s been braided for the last two months and I’m getting bored with that, and when I take them out I know I will get bored with my plain ol’ fro. Think I need to buy some new hair products…

With my oldest son we lived in an apartment with glass doors to the balcony- turned out to be the ONLY place I could get good pics without a flash so that became my little indoor studio! Hopefully Santa will find a way to get you that flash though- what sort of camera are you using nowadays? Adorable picture by the way, I love his gummy grin! :)

I have issues with using flash too, never thought to consider using a external flash thing, that is so out of my league! Least your subject matter is totally adorable, that makes up for the lighting issues a little ;)
