I don’t know what it was. I can’t pinpoint the reason behind it why I did it. It just came out of nowhere. Today I called Boogie a “this” while I was handing him over to Mommy. I said, “Here, hold this.” It wasn’t until a few seconds later that I had started laughing at myself as I realized I had just referred to my son as an object rather than a person.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened either. I can’t remember what the situation was, but there was something that needed my attention while I had Boogie in my arms. So as I handed him over to Mommy, I said, “Here, take the whole thing!” Seriously, don’t laugh! I don’t know how or why that line came out of my mouth, but it did!
I know it’s not a big deal since I wasn’t intentionally calling him a “this” or a “thing”. I just feel weird that I did, twice! Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever accidentally referred to your child as an object?

Hehehe, very funny! We sometimes pretend Niecey is an object and “fight” over her, she finds it hilarious.
I used to do the exact same thing when my kids were infants, especially around my mother. I got a kick out of seeing the steam come out of her ears when I said it.
Um, no. But I can see how it could happen when you are caught up in the moment. Glad to read that you have a new computer! Whoo Hoo!
I have done it with my dog and my little cousin Xavier. For some reason I call him by the dog’s name Scottie. No matter how hard I try I can not stop doing.
We do that all the time around here. William gets called Milo (our chihuahua) or the boy or even thing ALL the time! Even worse because I have 3 kids, a dog, and a hubby (big boy) I can’t ever seem to get any of theirs names right the first time. I call all their names until the correct one comes out. SO sad ha!
I’ve done that, it’s an easy mistake!! LOL.
