“I Love You Jayden!” “Goo Goo!”

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to Mommy Daddy Blog. We wouldn't want you to miss out on our updates or giveaways ;-)! Thanks for visiting!

Calling all expectant parents, I have a question for you all:

Do you talk to your unborn child?

I’ve noticed that recently I’ve been talking to Jayden every single day. In the mornings when I wake up, I’ll roll over to Mommy, rub and kiss her stomach, and say “Good Morning Jayden!” And then at night, I’ll do the same thing, except this time of course I’d say, “Good Night Jayden!” Most notably though is every time I leave for work or class. It’s been a long time thing for me to tell Mommy that I love her whenever I leave to go out somewhere. But now that we’re pregnant, I’ve been telling Jayden that I love him too; although he’s not even here yet! I’d say, “I love you!”, to Mommy and she’d say, “I love you too!”, back. Then I’d say, “I love you Jayden!”, and this is where Mommy always responds with, “Goo goo!”. I guess that’s her way of speaking for Jayden (although he is totally past the “goo goo” stage!). I know that every time I say, “I love you Jayden!”, he can hear me. I’m just waiting for that one day in the future when he first starts learning how to put words together. He’ll look up at me with his little eyes and say, “I love you too Daddy……”

“…and by the way, my diaper’s loaded so you might wanna check that out, ok big guy?”

Yup, that’s my son! :-D

Aww, you guys are so cute. You know I honestly think he can hear you. When he arrives he will recognize the sounds of both of your voices. I used to talk to my babies all the time when they were “inside”. Now I just talk to myself, lol.

We definitely used to talk to our baby girl before she was born - and they CAN hear you! She used to move more when he would talk to her. He used to read her stories too.

And once she came out, she recognized her daddy’s voice. :)

Absolutely! Talk to your baby! The jury’s still out on this, but it sure felt good to do it. It’s one of the things I remember most fondly about pregnancy.

Oh yes, we always talked, read, sang to them and put headphones on my tummy.
That picture is the best ! It’s so great to see how much fun you two are having with the pregnancy. :)

hehe! my husband did that too….. but then he can talk to a wall. lol!!

another trick he used to do is to take a pen light or flash light and put it on my belly then move it around sort of like an ultrasound, and the baby would follow the light!

seriously though, experts say it is very beneficial for you to talk to babies in utero. But I’m sure you knew that ;)

I always talked to my belly when I was pregnant and am even finding myself doing it now, although I am only 2 months along. :) I think it is great to communicate with babies while in utero.

    Good for you, Daddy.
Some parents have trouble talking to their babies at all, even after birth. They wonder why on earth you should talk to someone who can’t respond back with words–that’s pretty sad. So keep it up! Jayden does hear you, and right now he’s learning your voice and, yes, loving you back!
I talk to Carly (my baby due end of May) too, but I’m afraid it’s more of pleading her to not kick so hard!
